This review pertains to the 2019 GMC Canyon which I bought from Hardin on 3/20/2019 and brought in for an oil change and transmission check on 1/17/2024. I got the car back 1/25/2024. The first thing I noticed when I got it back was that it was filthy. I kind of understood your excuse for not washing customer cars during COVID but that's long over. You had the truck a week so much of the dirt was from sitting at Hardin. Inside the truck there is an access panel on the passenger side kick panel that was laying on the floor instead of having been reinstalled. I'm not sure why it was removed in the first place but not reinstalling it shows shabby workmanship and lack of pride. The really bad issue though is regarding the repairs needed. When I brought the truck in for service the very first time on September 18, 2019, I said the backup assist feature was not working and It was noted on the work order. At that time the truck had 3,102 miles on it. This is part of the Driver Alert option package that I paid $690.00 for. When I left the dealership I assumed that it had been fixed - stupid me! I wasn't able to go without transportation again so I drove it as-is and on a subsequent visit for an oil change I mentioned it again. The service writer checked it over, acknowledged that it wasn't working and said I'd have to leave it. I couldn't leave it then and it kind of got brushed under the rug. The truck now has just over 12,400 miles on it and I decided I'd have to leave it with you overnight for an oil change, fix the module and diagnose a transmission shudder. That overnight turned into a week and I was told is that the module needs to be replaced and I have to pay the deductible because its out of warranty - in spite of the fact that I first reported it at 3,102 miles! Regarding the transmission shudder, I was told that the transmission needs to be flushed and software upgraded and it will cost me over $1,100.00! This transmission/torque converter problem is well documented on various forums online and in GM Service Bulletins. The worthless extended warranty I bought when I got the truck won't cover it either. Bottom line is I'm disappointed, displeased, and frustrated with both the quality of GM products and Hardin's service. You kept my truck for a week and the only thing you managed to do was change the oil and quote me a ridicules price for a "maybe" transmission fix. That parking assist problem should have been fixed in 2019 when it was first reported. By you ignoring it, I will now have to pay the deductible if I ever want to use this expensive feature again. I have purchased many GM cars over the years (and this is my fourth from Hardin) but the poor GM quality and bad dealer service ensures that this is my last. I'm extremely disappointed with your service Hardin. You will never see me again.
